The California Fisheries & Seafood Institute is a trade
organization that evolved through the merger of the California
Fisheries Association and the California Seafood Institute
when members recognized the growing need for a unified statewide
voice with political, public relations and promotional knowledge.
The California Fisheries & Seafood Institute is an association of
individuals and businesses engaged in, or allied to, the consumer
seafood supply industry. The association's primary obejctives
are:
To preserve, foster and promote the consumer seafood supply
industry and related activities to advocate sound legislation
for the improvement, preservation and promotion of the
industry.
To market and promote the consumption of seafood and to
provide, enhance and communicate a positive image of seafood
products and the seafood industry to consumers.
To protect the right of the public to demand free and
continuous access to seafood of all types as a valuable source
of food and useful commercial products.
To advocate true conservation through utilization of the
maximum sustainable yield of all marine resources.
The California Fisheries and Seafood Institute strives to fulfill
its mandate to accomplish these objectives by:
Acting as a legislative liaison representing the interests of
the seafood industry in our state's capitol.
Increasing seafood promotional efforts statewide.
Increasing public awareness of the importance of the seafood
industry by combining public relations skills with legislative
activities.
Generating membership participation through the creation of
comm ittees and activities.
Increasing our ability to respond to the needs of individual
members by negotiating member discounts and incentives, and
continually developing beneficial programs and activities.
