Sultan Qaboos University, the national University of the Sultanate of Oman, is seeking an outstanding individual in Fisheries / Food Sciences to fill the newly established UNESCO Chair in Seafood Biotechnology.  The aim of the Chair is to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation in the field of advanced applied process biotechnologies, food safety and environmental protection.  It will also serve as a means of facilitating collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions.  The Chair is expected to work closely with the Head of the Department of Marine Science and Fisheries and the Department of Food Science and Nutrition in the development of value added seafood products.  Superb facilities, coupled with Oman’s spectacular marine environment, make this a prestigious position with considerable potential.  We are looking for an experienced individual with vision, a strong research record, experience in graduate supervision, knowledge of food processing and a commitment to participative, collegial management.
